Our Work

Grants are awarded once a year between October and December. The grant application process is fairly simple and is initiated by submitting a grant application. Guidelines around the types of grants that we may or may not fund are available below. Detailed information about our past grant making activity can be found in our 990-PFs, which are available upon request. If you believe your grant application is suitable for the furthering the Foundation's mission then please submit it to hello@threearrowsfoundation.org.

Areas of Grantmaking

All grant applications should focus on making our natural environment healthier, eliminating racial disrimination and defending civil rights, or enriching educational opportunities for all. Nonprofit organizations that qualify for public charity status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or public schools and libraries are eligible for contributions or grants.

Grant Types

Other than a minimum amount of cash for operational purposes, the majority of the Foundation's capital is comprised of digital assets. All grants are funded with digital assets. Most grants are funded in BTC, ETH, or USDC, but other digital assets may be available on a case-by-case basis.

Grant Amounts

Most grants are less than $5,000, as qualified appraisals are required for donations of property over $5,000. However, grants over $5,000 may be made on a case-by-case basis. Additionally, most grants are not multi-year grants but grants may be made to the same organization on a year-by-year basis over a period of years.

Applicants Not Funded

In general, the Foundation does not fund individuals, international charitable organizations that are not qualified in the US, or for-profit businesses. Please also note that Program Related Investments are not currently made.
